Short-term production finance


Available in the form of a fluctuating overdraft, this facility is aimed at farmers or farming businesses operating as proprietors, partnerships, companies, trusts and cooperatives. Use this for day-to-day expenses and to purchase production inputs.

Overdraft facilities are normally repaid after the harvesting season and are reviewed annually. Overdraft facilities differ from loans as they are repayable on demand.

Agricultural medium-term or project loan


This can be used the purchase of livestock, establishing orchards and farm buildings, and other projects that take time to generate an income.

Aimed at established farmers or farmers with proven financial track records, the loan amount is unlimited but the type of farming enterprise and its economic life-span determines the repayment term, up to a maximum of 10 years.

The repayment of capital may be suspended for a limited period at the beginning of the repayment period and withdrawals may be made against the loan for up to five years.

Agricultural long-term loan


This mortgage loan is used to finance the purchase farmland and capital improvements (e.g. buildings dams and fencing).

The loan amount is linked to the market value of the property to be bonded as security, the level of indebtedness of the entity, and the extent to which the enterprise type is able to repay the loan.

The loan term is usually limited to between 10 and 15 years.

Asset Finance


Vehicles, machinery and plant assets can be financed through WesBank (a division of FNB Botswana).
