Getting started

You can apply in any of the following ways:

If you are already registered for Online Banking Enterprise™

  1. Log in to FNB Online Banking
  2. Under the 'Accounts' section, select 'Instant Accounting' on the left hand side of the screen
  3. A page will be displayed that describes Instant Accounting and will allow you to log off and access Instant Accounting. Select this tab to automatically terminate your FNB Online Banking session. You will be routed to the Instant Accounting page.
  4. Complete the registration process for Instant Accounting online on the Instant Accounting page.

If you are not registered for Online Banking Enterprise™

Once you have registered for FNB Online Banking, please follow the process set out above.

If you are an accountant or a bookkeeper, please provide us with details of your practice and your location. We will be in contact about the training and accreditation procedure.

Instant Accounting is FREE to all FNB clients with an FNB Business Account. This includes FREE use of the product, FREE telephonic setup and support and FREE access to historical data (data is available on existing FNB Business Accounts from 1 January 2006).

For accountants who become suppliers of the product, you will receive the following:

Free use of Instant Accounting for your own FNB Business Account (if you have one) A simple process to open new FNB Business Accounts on behalf of your customers on www.fnbbotswana.co.bw - provided that you permit us to do so We will refer customers to you in your geographical area who require the additional services of an accountant

A unique product service

For accountants who become a supplier of this product, it:

  • Removes or reduces data capturing and processing (saving the accountant costs and time)
  • Allows accountant to produce a client's financials in a short space of time and consequently take on a greater number of customers (increase volumes)
  • Allows accountant and client to view the financial reports produced online at any time
  • Allows accountant to use time saved to provide customer with real value added services
  • Provides accountant with client and business referral opportunities from FNB
  • Provides marketing opportunity for bookkeepers and accountants (on Instant Accounting webpage and/or on accountant's own website and/or in their marketing materials)
  • Becomes a business differentiator (accountant can claim to offer a unique product and service to customer)
  • Allows accountant, with access to historical data on our system, to help a customer who is behind on financials to catch up in a very short space of time
  • Allows accountant to move certain customers from doing financials annually to monthly

What you can do

Increase business capacity

  • If you are an accountant or bookkeeper you can use Instant Accounting for the production of your customers' books. This will remove the hassle of gathering and interpreting countless papers and having to request information from your customers. It will also reduce the need to employ extra staff to manually capture receipts and data. As a result, you will be able to increase your business capacity, take on more clients and use more of your time to provide your clients with real business and value-added advice.
  • You can use the product for any customer that holds a FNB business banking current account. A customer will register for use of the product directly with us (FREE of charge) and will then grant you access to the system. This will allow you to do the customer's books using Instant Accounting. The customer can amend or revoke this access at any time.
  • Any accountant or bookkeeper in Botswana that is registered with an acknowledged Botswana accounting body (BIA - Botswana Institute of Accountants, ACCA - The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, CIMA - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) can become a provider of FNB Instant Accounting. In order to become a provider, you will have to complete training on how to use the product (provide free of charge) and sign our terms and conditions of engagement.

Instant Accounting for Accountants

Qualifying criteria

For accountants:

Any accountant or bookkeeper in Botswana registered with an acknowledged Botswana accounting body can become a provider of FNB Instant Accounting. In order to become a provider, you will have to complete extensive training on how to use the product, provided free of charge, and sign our terms and conditions of engagement.

For customers:

All you need to apply for Instant Accounting is an existing FNB bank account for your business. Accountants can therefore recommend existing FNB customers to us to register for the product. Alternatively, accountants can refer non-FNB customers to us but they will first have to apply for an FNB business cheque account before they can register for the product.
