Examples of dispute cases


  • Your account is debited for a transaction that was declined at the point of sale and paid for by another means (e.g. in cash). Please present a copy of the proof of payment indicating the method of payment used.
  • A dispute should be raised if your account is debited for the same purchase twice (duplicated transaction).
  • Your account is debited for a cash withdrawal at an ATM other than an FNB ATM (Saswitch). The ATM did not pay out, or short-paid you.

Your right to disagree

Disputes are not fraudulent by nature but are a disagreement between a customer, a service provider or supplier of goods purchased and the bank. In dispute cases a customer has consented to a transaction taking place, they are not victims of fraud.
